Tick Tock

Oh my...since I was very young, my earliest and most fond memories were always in the kitchen. My Grandmothers were bakers. Anytime I went to Granny's she had a fresh batch of something wonderful in the cookie jar...anything from your classic chocolate chip to something tropical and adventurous. It always made me feel warm and loved. I believe that is why cooking gives me sheer joy. I feel like a child when I am in the kitchen. I get out my Kitchen Aide and I am a giddy little girl that is ready to explore. I remember coming home from grade school and pulling out my Mom's huge cook books to find recipes for pies, cookies and anything wonderful. I was so little and fearless of the kitchen. I could do, make or be anything in the kitchen and when I was done there were (almost) always smiling faces as they sampled my creations. Usually the only person that was sour with me was Mom, but only because of the HUGE mess her kitchen was. She always forgave my thoughtlessness of her space.

So I have decided that my gift is to make others happy through food. Not only can I bring a little joy to someone else, but I have found that into my adulthood anytime I am stressed out, sad or lonely can be cured by a day in the kitchen baking. It is my happy. It brings me peace and it makes me tick.
